7 Things Your Health Insurance Company is Hiding from You

Last Updated on April 21, 2021

Every Health insurance company has some secrets to reduce costs as much as possible – that’s probably the reason some customers consider them shady or sneaky.
So to stay one step ahead, here are 7 things that insurance agents don’t really want you to know:

7. You don’t have to pay the health insurance company for things that you didn’t choose

Most health plans are quite clear and strict about the hospitals, clinics, and even medical experts that are part of their coverage network. This means that whenever you choose to seek a professional who works in a location outside that network, the bill will be charged directly to you and the insurance will have no responsibility for anything in it.  However, this only applies if you have direct control over that choice. For example, if the hospital where you are having surgery (covered by your health insurance company) chooses an out-of-network anesthesiologist, you won’t have to pay any additional fee – even though your insurance agent might try to convince you otherwise.
