Tesla cars give them all the real-time information an insurance company needs just by being driven. They have the technology built-in already! Camera recording, sensor reading, mileage per year,… All this helps Tesla know the driver and if he represents a risk for the car and to others. At the moment, Tesla is using aggregated data anonymously but it can eventually – not to say for sure – to a more customized policy when it comes to insurance. Tesla can give better offers for drivers that, according to the car’s data, represent a minimum risk or even tell the driver that he’s not eligible for insurance with Tesla.
